I made this painting in the early summer of 2006, when the roses were in full bloom and wound around the old metal rose trellis at the eastern end of the garden. I love roses and thanks to the work of the community gardeners, the trellis was liberated from encroaching grape vines that threatened to take over the peach tree and the rose trellis.
